There’s something about penguins that’s impossible not to love. With their little waddles, round tummies, and curious personalities, they’ve always been one of my favourite animals to crochet. So today I’m sharing a free pattern for this sweet little mini penguin!
This is the kind of project that’s perfect when you’re looking for something small and relaxing to make. It doesn’t use much yarn, works up quite quickly, and is ideal for using up those leftover bits from other projects. Whether you make one on its own or a whole little colony in different colours, they’re such fun to crochet.
I think these mini penguins would make lovely little gifts, stocking fillers, or stock for craft fairs. You could even pop one on your desk to keep you company while you crochet your next project!
The pattern is suitable for anyone who’s comfortable with the basic amigurumi stitches. If you’ve made a few small crochet toys before, you’ll have no trouble following along.

You will need:
-Your chosen yarn. in a main colour, white and yellow I used Stylecraft Special DK but you can have fun experimenting with different yarns. Using dk/light worsted yarn will make a penguin approx 3 inches tall.
-A crochet hook. I used a 4mm but use the hook specified on your yarn label.
-Safety eyes. I used these from Amazon

At this point, attach your safety eyes & beak.
